Kids Yoga


Kids need yoga too! More and more, child development experts are realizing how beneficial yoga is for the younger set. Yoga decreases stress, increases cognitive functioning and, most of all, it’s fun! CCY’s kids yoga teachers specialize in yoga for the little ones and provide a safe, fun, accepting environment for your child’s earliest intro to yoga.

Kids Yoga Lab (ages 4 - 10, no exceptions)

Yoga Lab is space where children can investigate and explore yoga, breath and movement. Every class will include flowing sequences, breathing exercises, relaxation techniques and a closing circle. The addition of music, storytelling, art, and group games will be sure to capture and hold kids attention. Age and intensity level variations will be suggested throughout the class to accommodate all of the students.

Toddlers are natural yoginis as they learn to crawl, walk and just physically move around in their environment. This adult/child class introduces yoga poses and a lot more while building their budding self-confidence and self-esteem. Through play, storytelling, partner poses and imagination, we learn how to hang like a bat and fly like a butterfly!

This non-traditional yoga class will take your little one on invigorating, imaginative adventures to places like the African savannas, Arabian desserts, and the deep blue sea. Incorporating asana (yoga poses) and pranayama (breath work) into highly imaginative play allows kids to build strength, increase flexibility, and improve concentration . . . all while having fun! Class ends with restorative poses leaving your little one happy, inspired, and relaxed.

Yogi Blossoms will promote both inner and outer strength through a mixture of games, yoga sequences, partner poses, restorative yoga postures, and deep relaxation. All of this will be offered in a safe, be-yourself, no judgment environment.

Peaceful Warriors (boys, ages 8 - 12)

Teen Yoga for Girls (ages 11 - 16)

Entering the teen years brings many transitions (some tumultuous!), both physically and emotionally. Yoga can help teens find the necessary tools to deal with their emotions, stress, body image, and peer pressure, setting them up for success in all aspects of their lives. Teen Yoga for Girls will promote inner and outer strength through flowing sequences, restorative yoga postures, and deep relaxation. All of this is offered in a safe, be-yourself, no judgment environment. 

Fridays, 3:00 - 4:15 p.m. (with Sara Biondello)

Family Yoga (ages 5 - 10)

A class great for siblings! Using storytelling, music and yoga games we will build on our self esteem and confidence while practicing our own sundance and yoga poses. Join us while we strengthen and stretch our minds and bodies! For ages 5-10 yrs old, adult/child class. (3 families minimum are needed to run the class.)

Cost:
Family Yoga for 2 is $25 (includes 1 child and 1 adult)
Family Yoga for 3 is $35 (must include at least 1 child)
Family Yoga for 4 is $45 (must include at least 1 child)

Kids Yoga Guidelines


 
  • Children must be four years or older to attend kids yoga lab.
  • Children must be able to use the bathroom on their own when attending class without a parent.
  • Parents are not allowed in the classroom when class is in session (other than toddler and family yoga).
  • Enrollment into a weekday series mid-season is permitted (if space is available,) and the rate will be prorated.
  • Please arrive fifteen minutes before class begins.
  • Make sure your child brings a water bottle to class.
  • Remove socks during class for safety.
  • If your child is sick, please let your child rest at home.
  • Unfortunately we cannot accommodate any make-ups for missed classes.
  • All class purchases are non-refundable.
  • Weekday classes follow the school calendar and do not meet during vacation days or snow days (snow days will be made up at the end of the session)
