Masha Leuner

Masha Leuner first tried yoga in 2005, when she was looking for a way to relieve the stress of planning her destination wedding. Working with her body in unfamiliar and challenging poses was a different experience than any she’d had before. Ever since that first hour on her mat, Masha’s love and appreciation for these poses continues to grow as they always teach her something new.

Masha believes that, over time, yoga awakens and strengthens our innate ability to heal ourselves. She teaches with that goal in mind. Masha’s classes integrate skeletal alignment, deep awareness of breath, and the dynamic movement of vinyasa. She encourages stepping on the mat and leaving the ego behind.

Masha holds a BA/MA in Economics and an MBA from New York University’s Stern School of Business. After many years as a career-driven marketer in the New York City area, the stress and focus on achievement started to impact her health. Yoga has helped in her journey of letting go. Masha completed her 200hr teacher training with the New School of Yogic Arts and continues advanced studies with Dr. Loren Fishman in yoga for osteoporosis.

These days she finds fulfillment in spending time with her kids, and in slowing down enough to even notice and appreciate the changing color of leaves in the fall.

  • Vinyasa Yoga
  • Vinyasa Yoga is a vigorous yoga class that moves through poses with the pace of your breath. The class is designed for all levels with modifications offered to take the class at your own level and ability on any given day. The sequence of each class will build towards a challenging peak pose(s) to stimulate both the beginner and advanced practitioner as well as the kid at heart. This class will be sweaty and fun and will challenge students of all levels.


  • FUNdamentals
  • New to yoga, or looking to get back to the basics? Yoga FUNdamentals provides both the beginning student and the seasoned practitioner a place to focus on common postures and transitions, that lay the foundation for Hatha yoga. Classes will focus on alignment and will include imaginative strength building exercises to prepare the muscles for the intensity of the major yoga asanas included in a vinyasa flow class. Expect clear instruction and individual assistance, as well as music to keep the environment light and playful. You don't need to be able to touch your toes in this class… all you need is an open mind & heart.

    This series is designed specifically for older adults who are looking to gain strength, flexibility, balance, and to improve their overall range of motion. Yoga for Bone Health is a targeted practice developed by Dr. Loren Fishman that is primarily designed to maintain a healthy skeleton.

    Recent studies have shown that specific yoga postures may aid in reversing bone loss, if practiced frequently and consistently. This series will focus on strengthening the spine and hips, which are both fracture risk areas. Students will also learn how to stretch safely, calm the nervous system, and breath in the poses. This series will also review common contraindications for osteoporosis and osteopenia. The information provided is designed so that students can take the practice home to establish a consistent routine.

    *Note: there is a 15-person limit for this series


    About Masha Leuner


    Masha Leuner holds a B.A./M.A. from Brandeis University, and an M.B.A. from New York University Stern School of Business. In 2012, Masha became the product manager for a calcium supplement called Citracal. This was her first introduction to bone health and the importance of maintaining a strong skeleton. While conducting market research, Masha gained first-hand knowledge of the specific needs of women when it comes to bone health.

     

    A long-time yoga practitioner, Masha completed her 200 YTT from New School of Yogic Arts at Coolidge Yoga in 2016, and has been teaching vinyasa and Yoga for Bone Health classes in the Boston area ever since. In 2017, Masha began her advanced studies in Yoga for Osteoporosis with Dr. Fishman and Ellen Saltonstall. Masha has attended numerous lectures on Yoga for Healthy Aging and is a trained yin teacher.
